Healthy Homes Legislation

The Healthy Homes Standards are established under the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 and the Residential Tenancies (Healthy Homes Standards) Regulations 2019. These regulations require most rental properties in New Zealand to meet minimum standards for heating, insulation, ventilation, moisture ingress and drainage, and draught stopping. Landlords must ensure their properties remain compliant and provide a Healthy Homes Compliance Statement with applicable tenancy agreements.
